The Why Behind Mongol Healer

At the time of this writing, the US has just started an illegal and completely unjustifiable war with Iran. It's not just this single event, however. This is the continuation of a long history of imperialism, exploitation and violence, and a glance at the headlines on any given day reminds us that we are living at a critical time in human history, a watershed moment. The way things have been operating in the world are not working for the vast majority of humanity--or for the more-than-human friends we share this beautiful planet with--and at no other time has suffering existed on such an unfathomable scale. Regardless of whether we identify as healers or not, it's not easy to remain steady in our work of nurturing and promoting love, connection, community, and hope, and yet that is exactly what is called for right now, because it is the only way we will move through the trials we face now.
That is why, after eighteen years, it feels right to release this work that I have held close to my heart for so long. Mongol Healer does not look away from humanity’s great pain and suffering, and it remains not merely hopeful, but firmly rooted in the knowledge that we can--individually, collectively, and as a species--heal. My heart-wish is that as the work makes its way into the world, it will inspire readers and listeners to remember that the healer is already here, within. Every one of us has the compassion, wisdom, agency and autonomy needed to effect meaningful change in our lives. When we are firmly seated in our true nature (what is known as Self in IFS work, or what Mahayana Buddhism calls dharmakaya), our very presence in the world is healing: everything we say or do comes from a place of internal power and peace. This is both a birthright as well as a privilege we have as human beings.
