Advance praise for Mongol Healer:

"An essential novel for our time. As power is increasingly wielded without accountability and whole communities are pushed to the margins, Mongol Healer restores erased histories and illuminates the resilience and wisdom that arise when compassion, consciousness, and collective care guide us forward. A timely work of fiction that speaks directly to our present moment."

—Dr. Tina Schermer Sellers, Author, Speaker & Psychotherapist

"Regina Wei masterfully weaves together themes of female mentorship, political trauma, and spiritual healing in this deeply moving and timely novel which should be read by every adult interested in humanity’s progress. The artistic character development and reverence for nature offer the reader a unique opportunity to pause and join with tender lives lived in authentic healing journeys."

—Stacy Costopoulos Smith, Psychotherapist & PAT Practitioner

Like all great allegories, this book swept me into a vast and complex ocean of story. When I returned to shore, I could feel the transformation already at work within me. I am deeply grateful for this gift of healing, still unfolding now as a hero’s journey in my own heart.

Set during China’s Cultural Revolution and told through the eyes of a passionate and sensitive young woman, the story resonated profoundly. The devastating impact of living through layers of untruth invites us into a shared humanity—and into the possibility of awakening and true healing.

Regina’s writing is stunning: beautiful, clear, and quietly insistent. She draws us into belonging, and ultimately calls us to carry that transformation back into the world.

蒙古大夫

The derogatory Mandarin phrase Ménggǔ dàifuMongol healer, means charlatan. It is what a celebrated qigong master calls Grandma Wú, his quiet neighbor in the adjoining courtyard. He has status, credentials, and followers. Wú has none of these, and yet people find healing in her presence.

When a young Chinese American yoga teacher named Natalie appears at Wú’s door weary and searching, Wú recognizes a familiar ache. As she welcomes her inside, the past resurfaces: the violence of the Cultural Revolution, exile in Inner Mongolia, and a hard-won understanding of what it means to be whole.

A literary journey from the unforgiving steppes to modern Beijing, Mongol Healer explores trauma, resilience, the courage it takes to keep one’s heart open — and reveals how easily power can disguise itself as authority.
